Rang 3/4 Explore 2D and 3D Shapes

Exploring 3-D Shapes

During the last week 3rd and 4th class have been exploring 3d shapes. The children first studied 3-d shapes on paper and then we progressed to watching an audio/visual presentation. Finally the children got hands on experience in working with 3d shapes. We grouped the children into 4’s and 5’s and they got to work with various resources to help understand the properties of 3d shapes. We created some regular shapes from paper. We then progressed to using 3d Lego to create more elaborate shapes. We also worked with tooth picks and blue tack to let the children show their engineering prowess in creating 3d masterpieces. It was a very rewarding and exciting way of learning about the 3d objects that are all around us.
