Fire Safety Presentation to 4th Class

4th Class were privileged earlier to meet two members of Charlestown Fire Service.

Dermot and Simon gave a presentation of the do’s and don’ts of fire safety. The two fire fighters gave detailed information of how fires are started, how they can be prevented and how we should react if we encounter a fire.

The children really enjoyed hearing about the work a fire officer carries out while also learning about the dangers that fires can pose. The children learned about how they can help to prevent fires in their homes and also how to pass on the fire safety message to their families.

The two fire officers presented an interactive information pack to each child and upon completion of a home check list; each child will receive a certificate of fire safety.

The fire officers took questions from the children and answered all their questions in a fun, informative and very professional manner before giving the children the chance to investigate the protecting clothing/equipment. A lucky few got to dress up in the full safety clothing.

Finally a special word of thanks to Dermot and Simon for their excellent informative presentation. Our students really enjoyed their visit.
